ProUA Hub EcoProject

This Community Garden is more than a green space — it is an ecological and educational project created by local residents. Together, we transformed a neglected area into a living classroom where people of all ages can learn about nature, sustainability, and community responsibility. Here, children and adults discover how to grow plants, care for the environment, and understand the importance of biodiversity. The garden hosts workshops, eco-activities, and cultural events that inspire environmental awareness and practical skills. By connecting education with action, our garden nurtures both the land and the people, helping to build a greener and wiser future.

🌻 What a magical day at our “United by the Light” Garden Open Day!

We came together to celebrate community, creativity, and connection. Children and seniors planted sunflowers side by side, we shared homemade treats, sang Ukrainian songs accompanied by guitar, and admired the stunning mural created by talented artist Vira Sobchuk. Professional photographer Olena joined us to capture these special moments, and we look forward to sharing her photos soon.

This day was a true reflection of how our garden is growing not only flowers, but friendships and unity. A huge thank you to Vira, NG Homes, Buta and the Community of Ukrainians in Glasgow / AUGB Glasgow for helping us make this corner of Springburn bloom with beauty, joy, and togetherness. 💛💙

This garden has become a place of peace, creativity, and togetherness. What began as a simple idea grew into a vibrant community project, where neighbours, friends, and families work side by side. It is a space for planting, sharing stories, celebrating culture, and building friendships. Every visit brings new colours, smiles, and inspiration, reminding us how powerful community spirit can be when people come together.

Planned Eco Initiatives in the Community Garden

1. Sustainable Gardening Workshops

We plan to organise workshops on eco-friendly gardening, including composting, natural growing methods, and creating pollinator-friendly spaces for bees and butterflies.

2. Educational Activities for Children and Youth

We aim to run interactive sessions such as “From Seed to Harvest”, biodiversity lessons, and eco-art workshops, helping children and young people learn about nature through play and creativity.

3. Eco Awareness for Adults

We intend to host talks on climate change, practical zero waste practices, and plant/seed swap events that encourage sustainable habits and community sharing.

4. Community and Cultural Events

We will celebrate harvests, cook with homegrown ingredients, and hold exhibitions showcasing eco-art and nature photography to connect culture with sustainability.

5. Partnerships and Collaboration

We plan to partner with schools, universities, and local eco-organisations, inviting experts to lead activities and providing outdoor education opportunities for children and adults alike.
