A Fresh Coat for Springburn Park

A Fresh Coat for Springburn Park is a community-led environmental improvement project that will restore and repaint a section of the historic metal fence around the Rockery area of Springburn Park. The project promotes wellbeing, cooperation, and environmental care by bringing together volunteers and benefiting local residents.

Springburn Park is a vital community green space, but neglected areas such as fences with peeling paint reduce the sense of safety and pride. Restoring them builds ownership, inclusion, and positive mental health.

The project contributes to visible environmental improvement and supports the wellbeing of Springburn residents, refugees, and families through meaningful teamwork.

ProUA Hub is planning to launch a new community project to bring colour and care back to our beautiful Springburn Park.

Over the coming months, we are going to restore and repaint the historic iron fence near the Rockery area.
This project will not only improve the appearance of the park but also bring people together — building pride, connection and a sense of belonging.

🌿 Why it matters:
The park is the heart of our community, but many areas have been neglected over time. By painting, cleaning and caring for shared spaces, we create something more than beauty — we rebuild trust, hope, and connection between neighbours.

👩‍🎨 Who’s involved:
Our volunteer team includes local residents, refugees, and families who love Springburn. Together, we’ll learn, paint, and share laughter (and tea!) while making the park shine again.

📅 Timeline:

  • Preparation (February 2026)
Volunteers will clean and prepare the fence surfaces by removing old, flaking paint and rust, ensuring the metal is ready for restoration.
  • Painting Part 1 (March 2026)
The team will repaint the fence using durable, eco-friendly paint in calm, natural tones that reflect the beauty of Springburn Park.
  • Painting Part 2 (April 2026)
Local residents and volunteers will take part in a wellbeing-focused community event, celebrating teamwork, creativity, and the shared care for our environment.
