Springburn

One of the key goals of ProUA Hub is to help make Springburn a more attractive, safe, and clean place to live. We believe in the potential of this community and are confident that Springburn can become a true jewel of North Glasgow. In this section, we will share our ideas and proposals for positive change — projects that connect people, restore pride, and create opportunities, turning Springburn into a vibrant, welcoming, and inspiring neighborhood for everyone.

🌿 Springburn Winter Gardens: The Living Seasons
Heritage brought to life through nature, art and technology
Project Vision
Springburn Winter Gardens is one of Scotland’s most significant pieces of architectural heritage (built in 1900, Category A Listed). For decades, this remarkable glasshouse has stood in disrepair. Our vision is not only to restore it, but to transform it into a unique cultural and ecological innovation hub, uniting heritage + ecology + digital art + community.
Concept
1. Heritage Restoration
-
Restoring the Winter Gardens as a proud symbol of Springburn.
-
Exhibitions showcasing the railway and cultural history of the area.
2. Path of Four Seasons
-
A visitor journey through four immersive zones inside the Gardens: Spring 🌸, Summer ☀️, Autumn 🍂, Winter ❄️.
-
Each season expressed through plants, light, sound, and artistic installations.
3. Green Mind – Living Art of Nature
-
Sensors placed throughout the Gardens capture real-time data (light, humidity, plant growth, visitor movement, even human breath).
-
These inputs are transformed into generative art:
-
Visual projections and AR (Augmented Reality) experiences.
-
Soundscapes that let visitors hear nature.
-
-
Every visit becomes a one-of-a-kind experience.
4. Community Hub & Education
-
Programmes in STEM, ecology, and digital creativity.
-
Local youth learning to build sensors, code, and work with AI and generative art.
-
A space for cultural events, artist residencies, and co-working.
5. Sustainability & Economy
-
Permanent and temporary exhibitions, concerts, festivals.
-
Revenue streams from ticketing, café, workshops, venue hire.
-
Sale of digital and NFT art generated within the Gardens.
