Turning Dreams into Reality:
The Practical Phase of "A Fresh Coat for Springburn Park" Begins!

After months of thorough preparation, the ProUA Hub team is excited to share some long-awaited news: we have officially transitioned from planning to action on the "A Fresh Coat for Springburn Park" project! This project is being implemented by ProUA Hub with the generous support of the Glasgow Area Partnership.

We are currently tackling the most challenging task—stripping years of old paint from the gates and fence of the Rockery Garden.

Challenges Along the Way

To be completely honest, progress is slow. Cleaning and prepping the fence is heavy, exhausting work that requires significant physical effort and a lot of hands—something we are currently lacking. Although only a small group initially joined the practical work, we have seen huge interest from the local community, which gives us high hopes for wider volunteer support in the coming weeks. And these hopes are already coming true.

Nature added its own hurdle as well. The area around the fence was overgrown with dense vegetation and large trees, completely blocking our access to the structure.

First Wins and Special Thanks

Despite these hurdles, we are already making progress, and we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated volunteers who have already joined the project on site! Your hard work and community spirit mean the world to us.

We would also like to express our huge thanks to the volunteers from TCV Scotland (The Conservation Volunteers), who cleared the heavy growth and mowed part of the area around the Rockery Garden. Thanks to their hard work, we finally have clear two-sided access to the part of the fence line we are working on today.

Looking Ahead

Despite the tough workload, we are full of optimism and energy. We have now almost cleaned the old paint from the part of the fence where the vegetation has been removed. Step by step, we are moving closer to the day when Springburn Park brightens up with fresh color and becomes an even more welcoming space for everyone.
